Goals :
To sensitize community and social workers to the difficulties encountered by Peruvian immigrant women in their insertion process.

Target group:
Community and social workers from institutions working with an immigrant clientele.

Contents :
Every person who leaves his or her country of origin to settle elsewhere is confronted by various forms of power exerted by host society institutions (the state, professional corporations, employers). In this seminar, we will attempt to identify the forms of power exerted on immigrants and to analyze its impact on their insertion process in different spheres of society (work, health, education). The lived experiences of Peruvian women residing in Montreal, particularly at important stages of their lifes, will illustrate this problem.
