THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERCULTURAL ALTERNATIVE PRACTICES IN
PSYCHOSOCIAL INTERVENTION
Type: Intercultural training workshop
Wednesday June 14 and 21, 2006, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Goals :
This two-day course aims, first of all, to help participants to
master the dynamic of representation of "cultural differences"
and their impacts on the help-giving process, and second, to familiarize
participants with a model of intercultural practice as an alternative
approach to intervention.
- Culture shock as a tool to reveal intercultural issues.
- To understand the dynamic of representation of “cultural
differences” on a relational level.
- To analyse the impact of “cultural differences”
in the process of help-giving.
- To familiarize participants with a model for intercultural practice.
Pedagogical Approach :
The training will be based on the professional experiences of participants,
as well as group discussions between both participants and the work
group. Case studies will provide concrete applications of the acquired
knowledge. These documents and analytical tools will serve as conceptual
and pedagogical tools that participants may apply to their practices.
